The Picture Gallery
I like to get photos when we are out at events. I often get questions about what was it like and who was there? I have a number of photos here from the events of the past year. At this point they are not really in order but I will in the future have the broken down by event. Also if you have some photos you would like to post here please contact me at Randy.Friesenhahn_1@att.net and I will work to get them up on the site either in a the general Gallery or if you can supply detail and some write up I will make them their own Gallery and page here on the website.
I would like to tank the members of the Houston QRP Club and the south Texas Balloon launch team for photos contributed to the site. Especially Andy W5ACM, Ed N5EM, Craig K1BDX, Fred Cull WA5BUC, Tom Mathewes K5SAF and of course Warren WQ1C.

Ray Miller Park Recent the HQRP group has been holding our Saturday morning events at Ray Miller Park. This nice little neighborhood park is a great place to operate at this site is convenient to most of us and has been a great place to operate from. One problem is a very high noise level, unfortunately with marginal band conditions use of this site may have to be discontinued. |
Tom Bass Park III The HQRP group has been holding the Saturday morning events at Tom Bass Park III for many several. It’s a good site but is a bit far away from some of our QTHs. We have held the Pet Rock, FYBO, Grid Square Sprint, and TXQSO Party there over the last couple of years. Always nice and it has a great set of facility to make use of. I hope we can use this site again. Oak Hollow Community Park (Lake Randy) The community park here in my neighborhood has been used a couple of time and is planned to be used again this year for a couple events. First in 2010 the Texas Radio Zone Contest crew operated the Texas QSO Party. For club standings we came in 5th. The actual standing total score standing was significantly lower but it was a great effort for two people. We will be active again there under my new call AB5V and hope to compete again. The HQRP group came up for an insane couple of nights the first of December 2010 for the ARRL 160 meter contest. Not being sure exactly how to run and file in the contest wrong category and came in kind of low. However if we files correctly we would have been 39th in the QRP section! We know how it works now and are not worrying. So keep your eye on this site for the schedule and signup sheets for operators. If we do not go QRP we will be QRO so watch out 160 Meters. Repeater Site Alpha While the exact site is secret and thus not released for security reasons this is the location of the 147.10 repeater. Presented here are a few shots of the roof and the view from the site. This is a temporary site and soon we will be moving the 147.10 repeater to the new ultra secret ‘Omega’ site. The repeater will be very loud from this new site and will return to major coverage status. Additionally I will be installing a NEW 440 MHz repeater (NO D-STAR /IRLP/Echo link or Armidillos Allowed!) <script > var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-25190098-1']); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']); (function() { var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true; ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') + '.google-analytics.com/ga.js'; var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s); })(); </script> |
